Fiordland National Park, New Zealand
Spanning nearly 3 million acres, Fiordland is among the largest national parks in New Zealand and arguably the most spectacular. This South Island sanctuary, established in 1952, is part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Site and presents a landscape of flourishing forests, snow-cloaked mountains and glacier-carved valleys. Cruises here explore some of the park's stunning fiords, including the serene Doubtful Sound, the deepest fiord in the country and home to wildlife such as dolphins, fur seals and penguins. As you make your way along Milford Sound, past its sheer cliff faces and towering waterfalls, you'll understand why novelist Rudyard Kipling once described it as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Zodiac expeditions offer an up-close look at the flora and fauna of this natural treasure, while overnight excursions take you to the adventure destination of Queenstown, where you can go boating, quad-biking, whitewater rafting, paragliding or skydiving.
